Detroit (6-9), the third seed, eliminated No. 2 Marist, 9-8, yesterday thanks to a strong 6-1 run to start the game. Sophomore
Jordan Houtby netted a career-high two goals, including the game winner in the fourth breaking an 8-8 tie, while sophomore
A.J. Levell had 13 saves with some impressive ones late in the third and in the fourth quarter.
Siena (12-4) downed No. 4 Jacksonville, 18-8, in the first MAAC semifinals game. The Dolphins actually had a 5-2 lead with 6:17 left in the first, when the Saints roared back with five straight goals and nine of the next 10 scores to take an 11-6 lead in the third. Siena then closed out the game with five straight markers to earn the victory. Danny Martinsen and Colin Clive each had five goals apiece, while Bryan Neufeld posted a game-high seven points on three goals and four assists.
The Titans defeated Siena, 13-11, on the road back on April 2 to even the all-time series at one apiece. Last year, the Saints recorded a 9-8 win in upstate New York.
The winner will receive the MAAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The victor will also look to get home real quick as the NCAA men's lacrosse selection show will air live on ESPNU Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. (EST).
