Scouting Bowling Green
The Bowling Green Falcons are 4-2-1 overall this season. They started the season much like Detroit by defeating a ranked opponent on opening weekend. The Falcons knocked off No. 9 Michigan (2-0) to start the year, and they improved to 2-0 overall with a 3-0 win over IPFW. After a 2-1 setback against Cleveland State, the Falcons went on another two game winning streak by defeating Duquesne and Pittsburgh at the Pitt/Nike Invitational. Bowling Green most recently tied Lipscomb (1-1) on Sept. 18 after losing to Belmont on Sept. 16 (3-2).
The Falcons use a balanced scoring attack as four different players are tied for the team lead with two goals each. Danny Baraldi has a team-high eight points as he has also recorded a team-best four assists to go along with his two goals. Bowling Green has two solid goalkeepers that have seen playing time in 2011. Michael Wiest is 3-1-0 overall with three shutouts. Miguel Rosales is 1-1-1 with one shutout. Rain, Rain Go Away
It has rained hard during each Detroit home game so far this season. Wednesday's forecast will be more of the same unfortunately. All indicators call for afternoon showers.
Shepherd to Sit
Anthony Shepherd has played well during the 2011 season. The sophomore will be out of the lineup against the Falcons however as he received a red card during the Michigan game. Shepherd currently ranks 24th in the nation in saves per game (5.33), and he is tied for 22nd in total saves (32).
A Look Ahead
Detroit will dig into league play this weekend as Wright State visits Titan Field for the Horizon League opener. The game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24 at 1:00 p.m.
