About Detroit (2-1)
The Titans got off to a great start to the 2011 season, but they are coming off a very tough loss to Buffalo. The Bulls handed Detroit their first loss of the season in double overtime on Sunday, Sept. 4. Regulation wasn't enough to separate the two teams and after battling each other and heavy rain conditions the Titans walked away 2-1 overall.
About Davidson (1-0-1)
Davidson enters the weekend with an overall record of 1-0-1. They won their home opener over Air Force by the final score of 2-0, and they most recently tied Denver 0-0. The Wildcats play in the Southern Conference and after a successful opening weekend they moved into the NSCAA/Continental Tire South Region Rankings. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced that they are tied with Duke for eighth.
Brian Mcgue and Gabe Rivera each scored a goal for Davidson against Air Force. Mcgue and Alex Givens have also recorded an assist early in 2011. The goalkeeper for the Wildcats will be Chip Sanders. The senior has made five saves through the first two games of the season and the defense has helped him record two shutouts.
About Appalachian State (1-2)
The Mountaineers hold an overall record of 1-2. They kicked off the 2011 season with a tough loss to Radford in overtime (1-0), but then bounced back for a 3-0 win over Catawba. Appalachian State faced Mercer on Sunday and they were defeated by the final score of 2-0.
Sekani Sinclair is the offensive leader for the Mountaineers. Sinclair has two goals through the first three games of the season. Sean Dreybus has also scored for Appalachian State. Nicholas Skoda has impacted the team early in the season by recording two assists. Mark Bridges rounds out the point total as he also earned an assist against Catawba.
There seems to be an open competition at goalkeeper for the Mountaineers as Appalachian State has used a different keeper in each of the first three games. Paul West has the only win of the trio, yet Danny Free has the most saves with four. Collin Taylor is the final member of the group. Taylor was in goal for the overtime loss to Radford.
Horizon League Leaders
Sophomore
Adam Bedell leads the league with three assists and goalkeeper

Balanced Attack

Tevin Wynter have also scored for UDM.
A Look Ahead
The Titans will face the Michigan Wolverines on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 5:00 p.m. This year's contest will be played at Titan Field as Detroit played in Ann Arbor a year ago. UDM took the Wolverines into overtime in 2010 despite playing a man down. They eventually fell to Michigan by the final score of 2-1.
