RESULTS
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The men's track and field team took part in the IPFW Quadrangular Meet hosted by IPFW on Saturday as Oakland, Valparaiso, IPFW and Detroit were all in competition.
Eric Lewis led the way for the Titans with two first place finishes. In the weight throw, he set a new personal best tossing 16.97m and his second first on the day came throwing a 14.34m with the shot put. The shot put throw set a new season and personal high in the process and the weight throw was the third best all-time Titan mark.
Erik Westbrook came in second in the 5k run with a 16:02.09 mark.
Justin Peguese had a 1.93m clearance in the high jump and attempted to top the 2m mark on his final jump. He just missed being able to clear it but still was able to place first along with
Jeffrey Senecal right behind him at 1.88m. Senecal was making his Titan debut on the day and also competed in the triple jump leaping 12.76m
In the mile run, the Titans also had top two finishers as
Matt Mahler and
Ylli Alla led the pack of 11 runners. Mahler crossed at 4:30.76 and Alla with a 4:31.12 mark.
In the 400m, Detroit finished in the top three spots.
Victor Mattison crossed first at 51.33,
Joe Raffin timed in at 51.82 and
Vince Lefler at 52.09. The times set by Mattison and Raffin were both new facility records .
The 4x400m relay team finished in first place with a 3:28.22 finish. In order, Lefler,
Aviram Campbell, Mattison and Raffin were the Titans running in that race.
After this weekend, Detroit will head to Youngstown, OH for the YSU National Invitational on Feb. 3-4.
