Senior Day Has The Titans Hosting Bellarmine In Home Finale

Live Stats

DETROIT -- The final home game of the regular season is here as the Detroit men's lacrosse team wraps up non-conference play on Saturday when Bellarmine visits the Motor City. First face-off will be around 12:15 following Senior Day festivities at Titan Field.

As with ALL the home games this year, the Titan parents will have a canned food drive and a money jar with all the proceeds going to Campus Kitchen. All donations will take place by the stands throughout the game.

Prior to the game, the Titans will honor its 10 seniors as Jon Bemben, Scott Harris, Brad Janer, Tim Lehto, Ty Maruyama, Jason McDonald, Adam Nolan, John Nowicki, Adam Parrottino and Danny Preston comprise the first four-year senior class in Titan history.

Harris is currently Detroit's all-time leader with 91 points, including a school record 42 assists. McDonald has started all 54 games in Titan history and has helped guide an aggressive defensive unit that led the nation in caused turnovers last year. Lehto and Nowicki have been prominent members of the offensive group as Lehto has 33 goals and 52 points, while Nowicki has tallied 26 goals and 40 points.

Janer and Maruyama are two-time team captains who lead by example on and off the field and in the classroom too as members of the MAAC Academic Honor Roll and the MAAC All-Academic Team. Bemben and Nolan have been valuable members of the defensive unit with their consistent play and have always provided depth and steady play in the field. Parrottino has been one of the most valuable Titans due to his hard work and dedication in practice, while Preston was the main face-off specialist for UDM in its inaugural 2009 campaign.

Detroit is 6-6 on the season and 3-2 in the MAAC, good for third place at the moment. UDM can actually clinch a spot in the MAAC Tournament this week if Jacksonville beats Manhattan and Canisius knocks off VMI.

The Titans are coming off a come-from-behind 8-7 victory at home against Jacksonville last week. After going up 3-0 to start the game, the red, white and blue fell behind 6-3 in the third. Detroit then caught fire with five-straight markers to jump out in front.

Sophomore Shayne Adams leads the team with 27 goals – second in the MAAC - while sophomore Joel Matthews tops the team with 39 points – third in the conference.

Junior goalie A.J. Levell had a stellar day in the net last week posting 10 saves, including six in the fourth quarter and is third in the MAAC with 114 stops.

Junior Jordan Houtby leads the team and the MAAC with 3.0 caused turnovers per game, a number that currently has him second in the nation.

Bellarmine has dropped five in a row – all in conference play as the Knights are a member of the ECAC – and is 3-7 on the season. The Titans and Knights have played three common opponents with Bellarmine downing Mercer (13-5) and Michigan (13-9) on the road, while falling at Ohio State (13-2).

Michael Ward leads the team with 20 goals and is second tallying 23 points, while Colton Clark tops the Knights with 27 points on 16 goals and a team-high 11 assists. Andrew Bulgarelli is their face-off man and has won over 50% (89-of-173) on the year and has picked up a team-best 45 GB's.  Meanwhile in between the pipes, Dillon Ward has made 109 saves and has a 10.48 goals against average.

Bellarmine has won all three prior games against the Titans, but this will be the first time UDM will play BU on campus. Detroit is 0-2 on the road (18-8 in 2009 and 9-6 in 2011) and 0-1 at Ultimate Soccer Arenas (12-8 in 2010).

Tickets to the game are set at $5 per adult and $3 for children (13 years and younger) and seniors (60 years and older). Group tickets (minimum 15 ticket purchase) are also set at $3 ticket. Group tickets MUST be purchased in advance. For more information, contact the Titan Ticket Office at 313-993-1700.
