WAUWATOSA, Wisc. -- The final day of the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Wauwatosa, WI on Sunday saw lightning delay the start by 3.5 hours and cut short the end due to more lightning. Ja'Quan Patterson from the men's team scored in both of his field event competitions to lead the Titans.
Patterson placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.71m (22-0.25) and posted four points for the Titans. He was also was third in the triple jump for six more Titan points with a jump of 13.93m (45-8.50). The triple jump was a season-best for Patterson and the second highest mark of his collegiate career.
The 110m hurdles had
Aviram Campbell topping the Titan group placing fifth at 14.68.
Steven Ivanics was seventh at 14.70 and
Vince Lefler established a new career best with a time of 14.85 finishing ninth.
Lefler was fourth in the 400m hurdles at 53.73 to bring in four points for the Titans.
Taylor Hennrick (55.94) and Campbell (56.13) were sixth and seventh as Hennrick's finish brought Detroit a point and Campbell was just out of the scoring.
In other field events,
Justin Peguese came away with a 1.86m (6-1.25) in the high jump to come in sixth and score a point.
Jeff Sherman brought in a new PR in the shot put with a fourth place finish and a launching of 14.94m (49-0.25) adding four points for UDM.
The 4x100m relay team came in fourth on the day at 42.22 as Hennrick,
Charles Anthony,
Steven Ivanics, and
Vushaun Landrum set a new season-best.
The 100m dash saw both Landrum and Anthony finish out of the top six bringing the reign of Landrum as the 100m defending champion to a close. Landrum was eighth at 10.94 and Anthony was ninth at 11.00. Anthony did score for Detroit in his other event in the 200m coming in sixth with a time of 22.16.
Joe Raffin was seventh in the 400m finishing just out of scoring position at 49.28.
In the distance runs, the men's 5000m had
Alex Harris come in ninth at 15:33.36 and
Martin Nelkie 12th at 15:45.21. The 1500m featured
Bob Radlich as the top Titan at 11th with 4:03.31.
20 of the 21 events were completed on the day as lightning cancelled the final event. During the women's 5000m run, the race was halted midway due to lightning. After delays, it was decided that the remainder of the event would be canceled and final scores would stay at the time of the delay. The men's and women's 4x400m relay was the event that was not completed.
The final scores on the men's side had UDM finish in seventh place with 48 total points.
