The Detroit Titans
The Titans are (0-1) after a 2-0 loss to non-conference opponent IUPUI Friday at Michael A. Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis.
One Game
The Titans had the edge in total shots after the first half on Friday but lost that edge in the second half. UDM will look to its upperclassmen forwards and midfielders to help the newcomers play as a unit for two full halves. Coach Deren will look to his veterans
Kevin Pinkos,
Pat Lepera,
Moustafa Bazzi and
Adam Bedell to lead the Titan attack.
History Class
Detroit currently has the overall lead (7-2-2) in the match-up with IPFW despite a 2-1 double overtime loss last year. Prior to that win last year, IPFW had not defeated UDM since a 2-1 (OT) victory back in 2003. Despite Detroit's record and +10 goal differential all time against IPFW, the series has seen six overtime games.
IPFW
The Mastodons return six starters from last seasons' squad, including All-Conference second team selection Brent Helton and All-Newcomer team honoree Myles Stanley, both players in the back. Goalkeeper Brandon Cloutier also returns, as well as Mitch Falkenstern and Nate Shipman each of whom started 20 games a season ago in the midfield.
Whose Next?
After the IPFW match, the Titans will depart for a west coast swing as they will travel to Irvine Calif. to face UC Riverside and UC Irvine. They will see UC Riverside on August 31st at 7:30 p.m. and UC Irvine on September 2
nd at 7:30 p.m. with both games played at UC Irvine.
