LOUISVILLE, Ky. (9/29/2012) -- Junior
Louisa Coppola was the Top Titan in just her second career race as the Detroit women's cross country team wrapped up the 11
th Annual Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday afternoon. The 5k event was held at EP "Tom" Sawyer Park, the site for the 2012 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship.
With 41 women's teams currently ranked in the NCAA Division I, II and III as well as the NAIA polls, the field was filled with some of the best athletes in NCAA cross country as the Titans took 33
rd with 837 points in the 5k blue division.
Coppola posted a time of 19:06 for 76th, 12 seconds better than her debut at the National Catholic Championship two weeks ago and the best time by a Titan at the GLCCC in school history.

Katrina Oberski continued her fine season as the second Titan in claiming 143rd in 19:36, while junior
Rachel Hofsess was 222nd in 20:17.

Sarah Martinez clocked a 20:22 effort to finish in 230th, while senior
Olivia Smid took 246th in 20:29. Sophomore
Sara Taylor earned a personal record on the day with a time of 20:46 and freshman
Haley Morairty crossed the finish line in 21:38.
The Titans were scheduled to run in the Michigan Intercollegiate next week, but will now be idle returning to the course on Oct. 13 when they compete in the Vic Matthews Open, hosted by University of Guelph.
