LAST TIME OUT
For the second time in three games the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team had the final shot and just like the first attempt against Valparaiso on Thursday, the three-pointer at the buzzer came up short as the Titans fell to Wright State 64-62 Monday night at Calihan Hall.

Junior guard Ray McCallum heaved a shot from half court that hit the front of the rim as time expired, but the officials met and determined that head coach Ray McCallum had called a time out before the shot was taken to give Detroit one more chance with 2.5 seconds remaining. Juwan Howard, Jr. then inbounded the ball to McCallum who took a shot from just above Dick Vitale's name on the court, just to see it come up short for a second time.

Senior Doug Anderson led Detroit (12-8, 4-3 HL) with a game-high 20 points, while classmate Nick Minnerath added 12. Jason Calliste and Howard both scored 10, while McCallum pitched in eight points, six assists, and four rebounds. Anderson led the Titans with six boards.

Wright State won the battle on the boards, 31-29, but Detroit forced 15 Raider turnovers, which resulted in 12 points for the Titans. Wright State shot 50.0 percent (24-48) overall, while Detroit shot 37.5 percent (21-56) overall, including 31.6 percent (6-19) from downtown. Detroit finished 14-of-16 from the charity stripe, while Wright State connected on 12-of-15 from the foul line.

SERIES WITH LOYOLA
This will be the 122nd meeting between Detroit and Loyola, with the Ramblers owning a 67-54 lead. The Titans swept the regular season series last year, along with an 80-71 win in the first round of the Horizon League Championships at Calihan Hall.

ABOUT THE RAMBLERS
Christian Thomas scored a career-high 21 points as Loyola (12-7, 2-4 HL) overcame a 13-point, second-half deficit to rally for a 67-55 victory over host Cleveland State (10-11, 2-5 HL) on Wednesday night at the Wolstein Center. The Ramblers scored the final 16 points of the game to turn a 55-51 deficit into their seventh win of the year away from home.

Thomas, who tallied a career-best 21 points, added five rebounds, and has now scored in double figures in eight of the last 10 contests. Ben Averkamp finished with 18 points and Devon Turk added 13 points for the Ramblers, who also got eight points from Cully Payne, five points, six assists, and six boards from Jordan Hicks, and nine boards and five assists from Joe Crisman.

Loyola dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Vikings, 33-21.

TOP-10 IN THE NATION
Detroit currently leads the Horizon League in many categories but only scoring and turnover margin both rank among the top-10 in the nation. The Titans rank fifth in turnover margin (+5.9) and ninth in scoring (78.6). The Titans also lead the League in three point field goals made (157), steals (171), scoring margin (+9.2), assist to turnover ratio (1.3). Detroit also ranks second in assists (292) and third in blocked shots (76).

CLOSING IN ON 1,000
Detroit junior Jason Calliste is closing in on becoming the 38th player Titan history to reach the 1,000-point plateau in his career. Calliste enters Saturday's game with 912 career points and is averaging 14.0 ppg, which ranks seventh in the Horizon League.

McCALLUM NAMED COUSY AWARD FINALIST
Detroit junior guard Ray McCallum was named a finalist for the 2013 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award. This marks the second straight year that McCallum has been named to the final 20 of the Bob Cousy Award.

The annual honor, named for Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic Bob Cousy, recognizes the top point guards in men's college basketball. Over 80 candidates have been nominated for the 2013 Bob Cousy Award.

CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Detroit junior Ray McCallum currently leads the Titans in three categories this season scoring (18.2 ppg), assists (4.8 apg), and steals (1.7 spg.) and is also climbing up the career record board in all three. McCallum has 1,364 points (19th), 400 assist (9th) and 144 steals (9th) in his career. The last Titan to rank among the top-10 in all three of those categories was Rashad Phillips '01. Phillips finished his spectacular career with 2,319 points (1st), 548 assists (4th) and 190 steals (2nd). McCallum needs 238 points to reach that plateau.
