DETROIT (1/8/13) –The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team will continue league play on Thursday, Jan. 10 when the Titans visit Youngstown State. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Beeghly Center and will be streamed live on the Horizon League Network.

Junior guard
Ray McCallum, the Horizon League Preseason Player of the Year, scored a game-high 26 points to help lead the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team to its 17th-straight win at home with an 84-76 topping of Green Bay on Saturday at Calihan Hall. All five of Detroit's starters scored in double figures and registered every point for the Titans, for the second time in the last three games.
The Titans' 17 game home winning streak is tied for seventh in the nation with Indiana and Notre Dame. The win was also Detroit's 21st straight when scoring 80 or more points dating back to the 2010-11 season.
McCallum led Detroit (10-5, 2-0 HL) with 26 points, six rebounds, four steals, and two assists, while classmate
Jason Calliste scored 20 points with three assists and a steal. Juwan Howard, Jr. scored 16 points, while
Doug Anderson added 12 and
Nick Minnerath pitched in 10. Minnerath also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Green Bay (6-9, 1-1 HL) won the battle on the boards, 35-28, but Detroit forced 17 Phoenix turnovers, which resulted in 19 points for Detroit. Green Bay shot 52.7 percent overall, while holding the Titans to just 37.5 percent. Detroit did make an amazing 38-of-42 opportunities from the charity stripe, including 28 of 29 attempts in the second half, while Green Bay made 14-of-19 free throws.
SERIES WITH YOUNGSTOWN STATE
This will be the 33rd meeting between Detroit and Youngstown State, with the Titans owning a 24-8 lead. The two teams split their regular season series last year, both winning on the road, before the Titans topped the Penguins, 93-76, in the second round of the Horizon League Championship at Valparaiso.
ABOUT THE PENGUINS
Junior Kendrick Perry, the reigning Horizon League Player of the Week, hit a running jumper with 4.5 seconds left to lift the Youngstown State men's basketball team to a dramatic 68-66 come-from-behind win over Horizon League foe Loyola on Saturday at Gentile Arena.
The Penguins, who trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half and by 12 with nine minutes left, improved to 9-6 overall and 1-1 in the Horizon League. Loyola, who lost for the first time at home this season, fell to 10-4 overall and 1-1 in the league.
For the game, YSU shot 48.1 percent (25-of-52) while the Ramblers shot 30.4 percent (23-of-57). Damian Eargle finished with a game-high 20 points and was credited with six blocked shots, while Kamren Belin added 13 for the Penguins.
TWO FOR THE ROAD
The Titans will look for their second road win of the season when they visit Youngstown State on Thursday. Detroit, which opened the season by losing its first five road contests, can win its second-straight away from the Motor City on Thursday. The Titans first road win came at Alcorn State, 74-58. Detroit has outscored it opponents by 12 points over the last two games on the road and is averaging 71 points per game, while holding its opponents to 65.

Detroit junior guard
Jason Calliste is closing in on becoming the 38th player Titan history to reach the 1,000 point plateau in his career. Calliste enters Thursday's game with 835 career points and is averaging 13.5 ppg, which ranks seventh in the Horizon League.
TITANS RANKED IN MID-MAJOR POLL
Detroit, which has posted an 8-1 record over its last nine games, is now ranked in the CollegeInsider.com Men's Mid-Major Top 25 Poll released this week. The Titans are ranked 25th overall with 66 points in this weeks edition of the poll, which is the second most in Horizon League. Valparaiso leads the league ranked 14th (330), while UIC (35), Loyola (30) and Wright State (28) each received votes.
HOWARD HAS RANGE
Detroit forward Juwan Howard, Jr. has scored in double figures in eight of the last nine games and over that stretch the sophomore has averaged 12.1 ppg., while connecting on 50.0 percent (19-38) of three pointers taken. For the season Howard leads the team and ranks third in the Horizon League with a 44.6 three point shooting percentage.
DETROIT LOVES THE 80's
This season the Titans are a perfect 7-0 when scoring 80 or more points and have extended their winning streak to 21 games when doing so. Last year Detroit finished undefeated (9-0) when reaching the 80-point mark. The Last time the Titans lost a game when scoring 80 points or more came at Milwaukee during the 2010-11 season, when the Panthers won in overtime 84-81.
LEADING THE LEAGUE
Detroit currently leads the Horizon League in five team categories including scoring offense by averaging 77.3 points per game. The Titans also lead the League in three point field goals made (122), steals (137), turnover margin (+5.9) and assist to turnover ratio (1.3). Detroit also ranks second in assists (218) and third in blocked shots (58).
CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Detroit junior
Ray McCallum currently leads the Titans in three categories this season scoring (18.9 ppg), assists (4.9 apg), and steals (1.9 spg.) and is also climbing up the career record board in all three. McCallum has 1,284 points (20th), 377 assist (9th) and 139 steals (11th) in his career. The last Titan to rank among the top-10 in all three of those categories was Rashad Phillips '01. Phillips finished his spectacular career with 2,319 points (1st), 548 assists (4th) and 190 steals (2nd). McCallum needs 318 points and one steal to reach that plateau.
