Sponsor Info & Donation Sheet
DETROIT (11/5/2013) -- Looking for a great cause or would like to come out and watch the Titans for free in their home opener on Monday, Nov. 11, then look no further as you can now be a part of the 1st Annual Lift-A-Thon, a fundraiser being put on by the University of Detroit Mercy strength and conditioning department and the men's lacrosse team.
All proceeds from the event will go to benefitting the Vs. Cancer Foundation and the UDM strength and conditioning program.
The Lift-A-Thon will be held on November 11 at Calihan Hall from 4:30-7:00 p.m., and donators are encouraged to come cheer on their sponsored lifters at this time. After the Lift-A-Thon, donators will have an opportunity to meet, talk and receive autographs from the players and will also receive free admission to the men's and women's basketball home openers on Nov. 11, which begins with the women hosting Lawrence Tech at 5:00 and the men to follow against UM-Dearborn at 7:30.
Players can be sponsored by cents or dollars per pound that they lift or for a flat donation. The players will be participating in three competition lifts; Snatch, the Clean & Jerk and Bench Press. Each weightlifter receives three attempts in each, and the combined total of the highest three successful lifts determines the overall result within a bodyweight category. The player's maximum weight will be recorded for the lifts and added together. Awards will be given to each weight class winner: 77 kg (170 lbs), 85 kg (187 lbs), 94 kg (207 lbs), 105 kg (231 lbs), and over 105 kg.
