DETROIT (2/13/2013) -- Detroit let a double-digit lead slip away in the second half, but a 10-3 run in the final three minutes lifted the Titans to a 73-66 victory over Wright State on Wednesday. UDM is now 9-0 at home on the year and has won 15 in a row in the Motor City dating back to last season, tied for the fifth longest home winning streak in the nation.

Detroit has now won seven of its last eight to move to 14-8 overall and 7-3 in the Horizon League, just behind second-place Youngstown State (16-5, 6-2 HL). UDM also now has a three-game lead over fourth-place Wright State (10-13, 4-6 HL) and Cleveland State (12-11, 4-6 HL).

Sophomore Shareta Brown led the way with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while senior Yar Shayok had 18 points and 13 boards. Junior Megan Hatter tallied 12 points – 10 in the first half – and seven rebounds, while junior Senee Shearer posted nine points and grabbed a season-high six caroms.

Detroit led by 13 points in the second half, but Wright State (10-13, 4-6 HL) came back to knot the score twice, the latest at 63-63 with 3:15 left.

That is when UDM surged ahead on that 10-3 run as Shearer hit a three and following a steal by senior Demeisha Fambro, Shayok got inside for a bucket. WSU came down to hit a three to pull within 68-66 at the 2:01 mark, but a layup from Fambro and a huge 3-pointer by Brown gave the red, white, and blue a seven-point win as the Raiders missed their final three shots.

Reynolds ended the contest with a team-high seven assists and four points and Fambro had five markers.

UDM shot 42.2% from the field and outrebounded the Raiders – the second leading rebounding team in the HL at 40.1 per game – 48-37.

Detroit started quick scoring the first five points and had a 10-6 lead thanks to a pair of 3-pointers and eight points out of the gate from Hatter, but WSU climbed back with seven straight to take a 13-10 advantage.

An 8-0 run by the Titans put Detroit back in front, 18-13, as Brown got inside for a basket and that was followed with a three and then another trey from the hands of Shearer. The Raiders were able to jump back in front by four, 26-22, but UDM ended the first half on a 16-4 run over the last 5:35.

Brown had eight of her first-half 15 points in that stretch, while Shayok netted six and freshman Rosanna Reynolds drove the lane for a layup with five seconds left giving the red, white and blue a 38-30 lead at the break.

Detroit hit its first shot in the second stanza to get a double-digit lead and later on, two free threes by Hatter raised the advantage to 11, 45-34. WSU was able to wither that to eight, but a basket by Reynolds and a jumper from Shayok saw the Titans take their largest lead of the game, 53-40, with 13:59 remaining.

The Titans then led by 11, 61-50, with 7:50 left, but the Raiders got back in it with 11-straight points to tie the contest at 61-all at the 4:35 mark.

Prior to the start of the game, UDM honored MaryAnn Smigel as the guest coach as part of the Play 4Kay Pink Initiative as she is a breast cancer survivor and the mother of a current Detroit student and the daughter of former Titan football standout Al Goodrich. As part of the night, there was a special $6 ticket with a part of the proceeds going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund as part of the #Play4Kay Pink Initiative (formerly known as WBCA Pink Zone). The Play 4Kay initiative is an opportunity for a nation of coaches to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. Since its inception in 2007, the Play 4Kay initiative has raised over $2 million to support women's cancer research. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is the official charity of the initiative.

The Titans will have the weekend off before heading to Chicago next week to face Loyola on Feb. 21 and UIC on Feb. 23.
