DETROIT (9/12/13) - The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team will head to the Show-Me State to compete in the Missouri State Men's Soccer Tournament at Plaster Field. UDM will face host Missouri State on Friday, Sept. 13 at 8:30 p.m. and Dayton on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1:00 p.m. Both times shown are Eastern Time starts.

Started From The Bottom Now We Here
The Titans were selected to finished fourth in the 2013 Horizon League Preseason Coaches' Poll. Last season, Detroit was selected to finish dead last, but ended the season being crowned Horizon League regular season champions for the first time since 2005 after defeating UIC 2-1.
Last Time Out
UDM got to play half a match against Michigan State before the match was cancelled due to inclement weather in the area.
Guess Who's Back?
Adam Bedell, the reigning Horizon League Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year is back for his final go round at Detroit. Last season, the six foot six senior midfielder had 11 goals, five assists and 27 points for en route to leading the Titans to a regular season Horizon League championship.
STOP! In The Name of Sarge
Steinwascher was named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week after his performances over the weekend against Cornell and Robert Morris. Referred to as "Sarge" by his teammates, junior goalkeeper
Nathan Steinwascher has retaken command of his net. Currently Steinwascher is tied for 10th in the country in saves (20), and stands 13th in the country in both goals against average with posting a 2.73, and showcasing a .952 save percentage. Through three games Steinwascher has played 330 minutes, made 20 saves, recorded two shutouts, and has given up only one goal.
Lucky 13
There will be plenty of new faces on the field for the 2013 Titans, 13 to be exact. Detroit will add 13 newcomers to this year's squad, with 12 of the 13 new additions hailing from the home state of Michigan and a lone ranger from Missouri.
Scouting Missouri State
The Bears are 2-1 on the season, and come into the weekend after dropping their last match in overtime to Belmont 2-1. Missouri State is led by sophomore Emmerich Hoegg who leads the Bears with two goals, both which have been game winning goals and junior Jack Wood who has found the back of the net once this season.
Scouting Dayton
Last season the Flyers ranked No. 7 in the nation in scoring averaging 2.28 goals per game, and have not missed a beat this season. Dayton comes into the weekend averaging 3.67 goals per game, and stands as the No. 2 team in the country averaging 10 points per game. Dayton is coming off a pair of wins over the weekend defeating Northern Kentucky 5-1 on Friday and Lipscomb 2-0 Sunday.
The Series With Missouri State
This will be the first meeting between Missouri State and Detroit. This will be the third match of the year where Detroit has faced a program for the first time (Cornell and Robert Morris).
The Series With Dayton
The Flyers currently lead the all-time series between the two schools 4-1-1. This will be the first meeting between UDM and Dayton since 1996 when the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Kuhls Returning to the Show-Me State
Only a three-hour drive from Kansas City, Mo. freshman
Aidan Kuhls, who is in his first season with the Titans, will have his first opportunity to play collegiate soccer in front of family and friends. At Bishop Miege, Kuhls earned four varsity letters for the Stags and led the team in scoring during his senior year, while leading his squad to a Kansas State Championship. Kuhls was also named an NSCAA High School All-American Selection in 2012 and was named Kansas High School Player of the Year.
On Deck for the Titans
After playing five games in nine days UDM will finally get some much needed recovery time. The Titans will have five days to prepare for a pair of weekend home matches against Buffalo (Sept. 20) at 1:00 p.m. and Canisius (Sept. 22) at 11:00 a.m. Sundays match will be the first game of a doubleheader with the women's soccer team, as they welcome the Stetson Hatters at 1:00 p.m.
