Men's Soccer Headed To New York for 38th Annual Mayor's Cup

The Titans will open up with a match against nationally ranked Cornell.

DETROIT (9/2/13) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team will travel east to compete in the 2013 Mayor's Cup at Hartwick College. The Titans will compete in two matches starting off against the Big Red of Cornell on Friday, Sept. 6 and meeting with Robert Morris on Sunday, Sept. 8.
 
Gameday Central

This page will feature links for live stats (audio and video when applicable) as well as links for all the latest info while also making it easy to find the Titans on social media and to purchase photos. Soccer Gameday Central also carries all the information on each opponent from who is leading the all-time series to who won the last game.
 
Started From The Bottom Now We Here
The Titans were selected to finished fourth in the 2013 Horizon League Preseason Coaches' Poll. Last season, Detroit was selected to finish dead last, but ended the season being crowned Horizon League regular season champions for the first time since 2005 after defeating UIC 2-1.
 
Last Time Out
After dropping the season opener in 2012 against IUPUI, Detroit was determined to not let history repeat itself on Titan Field. However, UDM had to settle for a 0-0 draw against IUPUI. The Titans were led by junior goalkeeper, Nathan Steinwascher, who made four saves for the Titans and recorded his first shutout of the year.
 
Guess Who's Back?
Adam Bedell, the reigning Horizon League Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year is back for his final go round at Detroit. Last season, the six foot six senior midfielder had 11 goals, five assists and 27 points for en route to leading the Titans to a regular season Horizon League championship.
 
Sergeant Steinwascher
Referred to as "Sarge" by his teammates, junior goalkeeper Nathan Steinwascher has retaken command of his net. In the season opening match against IUPUI, the keeper recorded four saves and a season opening shutout in a 0-0 draw.
 
Lucky 13
There will be plenty of new faces on the field for the 2013 Titans, 13 to be exact. Detroit will add 13 newcomers to this year's squad, with 12 of the 13 new additions hailing from the home state of Michigan and a lone ranger from Missouri.
 
Scouting Cornell
Cornell will begin the 2013 season against the University of Detroit Mercy. Led by senior Patrick Slogic, who was named to the top 100 "players to watch" for the 2013 season, the Big Red come into the contest nationally ranked by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NCSCAA, 22nd) and Top Drawer Soccer (25th).  
 
Scouting Robert Morris
The Colonials were chosen to finish eighth in the 2013 NEC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Robert Morris opened the 2013 campaign dropping a match to Rider, 2-1. The Colonials come into the contest 0-1.
 
First Time for Everything
This will be the first meeting in the 26 years of Detroit men's soccer with Cornell and Robert Morris. The Titans will certainly be looking to get a jump start in the all-time series this weekend.
 
On Deck for the Titans
The Titans will return home for a September 11th matchup with in-state powerhouse, Michigan State on Titan Field. Following the contest with the Spartans, Detroit will play two matches in the Missouri State Tournament against host Missouri State (Sept. 13) and Dayton (Sept.15).
