DETROIT (9/24/2013) -- A pair of corner kicks from junior defender Alyssa Lotito helped set up both goals as the University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over the Madonna Crusaders Tuesday afternoon at Titan Field.

In the last tune-up before conference play begins Saturday at Cleveland State, the Titans (5-4-1) won their third straight, all at home, and posted their third consecutive shutout. The win gives Detroit its 20th at home in its last 27 games with a 20-5-2 mark dating back to the start of the 2010 season. The Titans have currently won seven straight at home and 11 of their last 12. It was also the fifth win for Detroit over Madonna (3-4-1).

Sophomore Heather Brown scored for the second straight game as she tallied her marker at 27:07 off a Lotito corner.

Sophomore Tatum Zurawski also made the score sheet with her first career goal. After coming into the game as a sub, it took a minute and 15 seconds for her to get her head on a Lotito corner and score her first collegiate goal to give Detroit a 2-0 lead 41 seconds before halftime.

The Titans would take that lead into the half and control the second half en route to the victory.

"The win today gives us a lot of confidence heading into our first conference game on Saturday against Cleveland State," said Lotito. "We know we can beat them and we just have to play like we know we can."

The Titans had eight corner kicks on the day while Madonna did not have a single attempt. The final shot count saw Detroit with a 15-3 overall advantage, 4-0 on goal.

The two UDM goalkeepers shared time in net but neither had to make a save. Freshman Laura Taylor made her second career start and played 57 minutes before sophomore Martha Dunbar came in and played the final 32 minutes.

Detroit will begin Horizon League play this Saturday as the Titans will hit the road to face Cleveland State at 4:00 p.m.
