DETROIT (9/30/13) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team will take a break from Horizon League play to travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. for a non-conference match with IPFW on Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET.

Started From The Bottom Now We Here
The Titans were selected to finished fourth in the 2013 Horizon League Preseason Coaches' Poll. Last season, Detroit was selected to finish dead last, but ended the season being crowned Horizon League regular season champions for the first time since 2005 after defeating UIC 2-1.
Last Time Out
The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team posted a season-high three goals in a 5-3 home defeat to Milwaukee Saturday afternoon in the first match of Horizon League play.
On an afternoon where the 2012 Horizon League regular season championship banner was unveiled at Titan Field and the start of another season of conference play, a career day for Milwaukee sophomore Aaron Horvat doomed the Titans chances of opening conference play with a win. Horvat finished with four goals for the Panthers in the victory.
Senior captain Kevin Pinkos accounted for a career high three points in the match (two goals, one assists), while freshman Tyler Moorman headed in his first career goal.
Guess Who's Back?
Adam Bedell, the reigning Horizon League Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year is back for his final go round at Detroit. Last season, the six foot six senior midfielder had 11 goals, five assists and 27 points for en route to leading the Titans to a regular season Horizon League championship.
After a slow start, Bedell is picking up the pace for the Titans. The midfielder has scored three goals in his last his last three games, after going the opening six games without finding the net.
STOP! In The Name of Sarge
Steinwascher was named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week after his performances against Cornell and Robert Morris. Referred to as "Sarge" by his teammates, junior goalkeeper Nathan Steinwascher has retaken command of his net.
Through seven games, Steinwascher has placed himself in the top 20 in three different categories nationally. Through Sept. 26, the junior goalkeeper is tied for 10th in the nation in saves per game (6.00) and tied for 20th in save percentage (.857), while standing at sixth in total saves (42).
Lucky 13
There will be plenty of new faces on the field for the 2013 Titans, 13 to be exact. Detroit will add 13 newcomers to this year's squad, with 12 of the 13 new additions hailing from the home state of Michigan and a lone ranger from Missouri.
Scouting IPFW
IPFW dropped its opening Summit League match to Oral Roberts, 2-1 on Sunday, Sept. 29. The Dons led for 89 minutes of the match, but allowed the Golden Eagles to knot the game at one and send the match into overtime. The Golden Eagles would strike in the opening minute of the golden goal period to steal the match.
The Dons are led by a pair of freshmen in Jacob Murphy and Oscar Uyamadu. Murphy leads the team with two goals and one assist while Uyamadu has two goals to his name.
The Series with the Dons
Detroit leads the all-time series with IPFW 8-2-2. Last season, the Titans defeated the Dons 3-0 on Titan Field. Pat Lepera '12 scored a pair of goals and Pinkos added another while Steinwascher recorded his first shutout of his career.
On Deck for the Titans
UDM will get back into league play as the Titans travel to Rochester to face Oakland, Saturday, Oct. 5th at 7 p.m. in the first ever Horizon League match between the two neighboring programs.
