DETROIT (11/22/2014) --
The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team used a spirited second-half run to get back into the game, but it just wasn't enough as the Titans fell, 68-56, to St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon at Calihan Hall.

Senior Ellisha Crosby led the way with a season-high 16 points and five rebounds, while freshman Nicole Urbanick netted a season-best 11. Sophomore Haleigh Ristovski totaled nine points, eight rebounds and tied her career high with five assists and redshirt sophomore Rosanna Reynolds added 10 points, a season-high five assists and three steals.

The Titans (1-3) came out on fire in the second half, opening the period on a 16-2 charge in the first five minutes to trim a double-digit deficit to just three, 40-37.

Reynolds began things with a three and after a St. Bonaventure (2-2) basket, UDM ran off 13-straight points. Ristovski had a basket and then Crosby connected on two free throws in that span.

Reynolds then tickled the twine again from downtown and sophomore Minisha Frederick-Childress made an acrobatic move to the rim for two. After another Crosby free throw, Urbanick hit from down town and UDM trailed by just three, 40-37, with 15:17 left in the game.

The Titan run ended after that as the Bonnies ran their lead back to eight, 50-42, midway through the half and eventually 10, 56-46, with 6:28 remaining. Urbanick then brought Detroit back by hitting a three and Crosby got inside for two. UDM pulled within five again later on, 58-53, with 3:45 left as Crosby made a pair from the charity stripe.

That was as close as the Titans would get as the visiting Bonnies ended the game on a 10-3 run to earn the victory.

Detroit connected on a season-high eight 3-pointers and also turned it over a season-low nine times.

Freshman Darianne Seward scored six points and pulled down two boards with two steals, while Frederick-Childress finished with four points and three rebounds.

Detroit had a 5-4 lead early on as both defenses were dictating the pace of play. St. Bonaventure then scored four in a row to jump out in front, but Ristovski hit two free throws to make it a one-point game, 8-7.

The Bonnies then went on a 19-2 run to open a 27-9 lead with under eight minutes left. Detroit ended that with a trey from Urbanick. Seward would later drive to the rim for a highlight layup and then Crosby had a three and another field goal to get the red, white and blue within 17, 36-19, with over two minutes left.

Detroit will have a week off before its next game at the Titans visit Niagara on Saturday, Nov. 29, with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

Game Notes:
This was the first-ever meeting between the two private schools… Detroit shot exactly 33.3% on 19-of-57 shooting for the second-straight game… UDM had a season-low nine turnovers, its lowest amount since turning it over just nine times in a win at home over Valparaiso last season…Crosby has now been in double-digits in scoring in the last two games… Ristovski has at least eight rebounds in three of Detroit's first four games… Detroit outscored SBU, 16-9, in points off turnovers… After using 19 different starting line-ups last year, the Titans have started the same five in all four games so far…
