DETROIT (11/8/2014) -- Redshirt sophomore Rosanna Reynolds scored a game-high 32 points, senior Ellisha Crosby tallied 26 and sophomore Haleigh Ristovski  grabbed a game-best 15 rebounds as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team secured a 85-61 victory over visiting Salem International in an exhibition game on Saturday afternoon.

It was the lone preseason game of the year for Detroit.

Reynolds finished 11-of-19 from the field, 3-of-4 from behind the arc and a perfect 7-of-7 at the free throw line in just 28 minutes of action. Crosby was 8-of-12 shooting with three 3-pointers, while pulling down six rebounds.

It was a slow start on offense for both teams as the Titans and Tigers both missed their first four shots from the field. Reynolds broke the scoreless start by hitting a three and later on, back-to-back baskets by junior DaVonna Bradford and freshman Darianne Seward gave UDM an 8-5 advantage.

After a Tigers' bucket, Detroit then drained two-straight 3-pointers as Ristovski and Crosby tickled the twine for a 14-11 lead. The Titans started to open it up after that as a layup by Reynolds and a jumper from freshman Chea Taylor put UDM up by double digits for the first time, 23-13, at the 8:18 mark.

Detroit would maintain its lead for the next few minutes, until Salem International was able to knock down back-to-back 3-pointers to trim the lead to four, 34-30, but a basket by senior brie Wilcox and two free throws from freshman Minisha Frederick-Childress pushed it back to eight, 40-32. UDM would take a 44-38 lead at the break.

After starting the game hitting just one of its first seven shots, Detroit was 16-of-33 the rest of the first half, while forcing 10 turnovers and outrebounding SIU, 27-18.

Detroit came out running scoring 15 points in the first five minutes of the second stanza - led by Reynolds who had 11 points on five field goals and a free throw – to take a 59-46 lead.

The Titans – who connected on nine of its first 13 shots in the second half – would go on a 25-12 run to open a commanding 69-50 advantage with 10:01 left in the game. Meanwhile, the defense held the Tigers to just 3-of-17 with three turnovers.

Detroit pushed its lead into the 20's after that, eventually reaching as high as 25 points before the final whistle blew for the 24-point victory.

Ristovski and Frederick-Childress each handed out a game-high four assists. Frederick-Childress and Seward each had three steals apiece and Bradford had seven boards off the bench.

Detroit will begin the regular season next week when the red, white and blue visit Michigan on Friday, Nov. 14, with tip-off slated for 7:00 p.m., at Crisler Center. The home opener will be just two days later when the Titans host Marygrove at Calihan Hall at Noon.
