YPSILANTI, Mich. (12/30/2014) --
Sophomore Haleigh Ristovski led four Titans in double figures and the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team erased a 15-point second-half deficit to send the game to overtime, but the red, white and blue could not complete the comeback falling, 75-71, on Tuesday at Eastern Michigan.

Ristovski tied her career highs with a game-best 20 points and a team-high 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Redshirt sophomore Rosanna Reynolds had 19 points and 10 boards for the third double-double in her career, while also adding a team-high five assists. Freshman Darianne Seward netted 15 points with four rebounds and four assists and sophomore Minisha Frederick-Childress totaled 10 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Detroit (5-8) trailed by 11 at the break, 40-31, and then saw Eastern Michigan (7-4) extend its lead to 15, 53-38, with 14:56 remaining when Ristovski and Reynolds tallied back-to-back 3-pointers. The Eagles would respond and push its advantage back to double digits by as many as 13, 64-51, with 8:06 left.

That is when the red, white and blue made scored 12-straight points to get to within one. Junior Lariah Stevens started the run with a jumper and then Reynolds knocked one in from downtown. Seward then scored five-straight with three free throws and a basket as her last one from the charity stripe made it 64-61 with 3:53 on the clock. After a big block by junior Brie Wilcox, the Titans next possession saw Frederick-Childress come up with a huge offensive rebound and putback and it was a one-point game, 64-63, with 3:08 left.

Eastern Michigan then took a three-point lead, 66-63, but another trifecta from Reynolds and the Titans knotted it at 66-66 at the 2:02 mark. UDM fell behind by three again, but this time Ristovski stepped back and hit her career-best sixth trey of the game to make it 69-69 with 1:04 left in regulation. Both teams had chances to score down the stretch, but neither could put in the winning basket. The Titans looked like they were going to steal the game away as a missed EMU jumper with seven seconds left fell into the hands of Wilcox, who found Seward streaking down the court, but her off-balanced floater just rimmed out.

In the extra session, neither team scored in the opening two minutes, but the Eagles regained a three-point lead, 72-69, and then led 75-69. Detroit finally got on the board with a Seward layup with under 10 seconds left as EMU was able to hold off the Titan comeback.

Wilcox ended the contest by tying her career high with four blocks, while also tying her season high with five rebounds and scoring five points. Stevens ended with two points and a rebound, block and an assist and sophomore Lizzy Connors had two caroms.

Detroit hit 11 triples in the game and tied a program record with 33 three-point attempts. Overall, Detroit shot 39.4 percent (28-of-71). The defense limited EMU to 35.5 percent shooting and 29.0 percent in the second half, while just losing the battle of the glass, 50-45.

It was a close affair early on as Detroit was down 8-4 only to climb back and take a 11-10 lead midway through the stanza. EMU started to assert itself and jumped in front for the rest of the half, opening a nine-point lead at the intermission, 40-31.

The Titans will now get ready for conference action as Detroit will have a week off before hosting Milwaukee next Wednesday, Jan. 7, on Dick Vitale Court in historic Calihan Hall. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.

Game Notes:
