Adams, Weber Take Home MAAC Honors

MAAC Release

EDISON, N.J. (3/24/2014) --
Both played a big role in helping the Titans win their MAAC opener and for their efforts on the field, junior Shayne Adams and freshman Jason Weber earned Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, announced the conference office on Monday.

For Adams, it marks the second time in his career that he has won the Offensive Player of the Week and the first this season, while Weber earns his second weekly conference accolade following his Rookie of the Week honor on March 10.

The Titans defeated Canisius on the road, 8-6, on Sunday to start the conference season as Adams had a hand in half of Detroit's offense, while Weber stepped up in the pipes to keep the Golden Griffins off balance.

Adams recorded his 17th career hat trick and fourth this season with three goals and also came away with an assist. He started the Titans scoring with his MAAC-leading eighth man-up goal of the year and currently leads the team in goals (19), is second in points (24), and second in the league with 2.38 goals per game.

Weber won his third game in five starts finishing with 17 saves against Canisius, including 11 in the second half and five in the final period. He has now posted at least 14 saves in each of his five starts and the 17 stops was one away from a season-high.

UDM will look to make it two in a row when new MAAC-rival Quinnipiac visits the Motor City on Saturday, March 29. Game time is set for Noon and for this week only, admission is FREE to all fans.
