Anthony Posts Third Best Horizon League Mark in 100 Meters at Ohio State

COLUMBUS (4/19/2014) -- Charles Anthony of the University of Detroit Mercy men's outdoor track and field team ran the third best mark in the Horizon League this year in the 100 meter dash at the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State.
 
Anthony ran the 100 meter dash in a time of 10.83, just off his personal record of 10.72, to finish 11th of 38 runners. Brandon Wilks also broke the 11-second barrier with a mark of 10.90 that also included a heat win. Anthony was also 12th in the 200 meters with a time of 21.79 which was just off his PR of 21.65.
 
Anthony's mark is currently third in the Horizon League while Wilks stands close behind in fifth with his run just two weeks before the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 2-4 at Youngstown State.
 
Joshua Carolin ran a time of 1:54.83 in the 800 meters to place 19th of 41 runners.
 
Steven Ivanics posted his first sub-15 mark of the 2014 season in the 110 meter hurdles running a time of 14.96 to come in 17th.
 
Joe Raffin won his 400 meter heat with a time of 50.52.
 
Khalil Parris ran the 400 meter hurdles with a mark of 55.53 to earn a 19th place finish.
 
Derek Gielarowski ran the 5000 meter distance race Friday evening finishing with a time of 15:06.24 to place 15th overall.
 
The Titans also had a group competing at the Al Owens Classic at Grand Valley State.
 
Colton Wirgau ran 51.38 in the 400 meter dash while Joe Harmon was close behind at 51.76.
 
The Titans will compete next at the Hillsdale Relays in Hillsdale, Michigan on April 24-26 in the final tune-up before the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 2-4 at Youngstown State.
