MONO, Ontario (11/29/2015) -- Former University of Detroit Mercy guard
Brandan Kearney is continuing his basketball career on the professional level as he was the second overall pick of the Moncton Miracles in the National Basketball League of Canada on Saturday night.
Kearney joined the Titans for the 2014-15 season and played in all 33 games with 13 starts. He averaged 6.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, scoring in double-figures six times. He also posted 25 steals and received the Larry Doyle Most Dedicated Titan Award at the end-of-the-year banquet.
He netted a career-high 17 points against Aquinas and finished with 14 points and five assists against then-No. 24 Michigan.
He came to Detroit after playing a year at Arizona State (2013-14) and two seasons at Michigan State (2011-13).
A local product from Southeastern High School, he was a Class A First-Team All-State honoree by both the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News and finished fifth in the voting for the Hal Schram Michigan Mr. Basketball Award as a senior.
He led Southeastern to a 23-4 record, including its first Detroit Public School League title in 55 years and its first state final appearance in 85 years.
He was also a member of 2009-10 USA Basketball Men's Developmental National Team and won a Gold Medal with Team USA at the 2009 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.
Kearney is now the 17th Titan under head coach
Ray McCallum to continue his basketball career professionally.
The NBLC is a nine-team team league that was founded in 2011 as the Premier Basketball League. It has franchises in Cape Breton, Charlottetown, Halifax, London, Moncton, Niagara, Orangeville, Saint John and Windsor.
