DETROIT (11/5/2015) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team picked up a 72-38 victory over the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils in Calihan Hall on Thursday night in a contest that marked its lone exhibition game of the 2015-16 season.
Sophomore guard
Nicole Urbanick (Grosse Ile, Mich. / Divine Child) lit up the Blue Devils for 25 points on 9-of-19 shooting, including five 3-pointers. Junior guard
Rosanna Reynolds (Canton, Mich. / Divine Child) posted 14 points and collected a game-high six assists, while sophomore forward

Freshman guard
Brittney Jackson (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Nazareth) and junior forward
Haleigh Ristovski (Sterling Heights, Mich. / University Liggett) chipped in with nine points apiece, while Ristovski also pulled down 10 boards and handed out five helpers.
The Titans looked comfortable from the early goings and began the game on a quick 6-0 run, which eventually expanded to a demanding 21-4 lead after the first quarter. Detroit's inside-outside game looked strong as it notched nine triples on the night as well as 34 points in the paint.
Urbanick took no time to find her rhythm as she scored seven points in the first stanza, but the Titans' offense would not have been that successful if it were not for their pesky defense. They managed to get their handprints all over the ball as they piled up 13 steals and forced 22 Lawrence Tech turnovers.
The Blue Devils came back strong after halftime as they outscored the Titans 17-14 in the third quarter. However, the Titans never completely lost momentum as they regained control in the fourth quarter and held LTU to just five points in the final 10 minutes.
Detroit out-scored the Blue Devils in the fourth quarter, 21-5, to close out the game. The Titans out-rebounded LTU, 49-40, and finished with 17 assists and 13 steals.
UDM held LTU to 27.1 percent shooting (16-of-59). The Blue Devils hit just 3-of-26 triple attempts for the game.
Autumn Whirley posted a team-high 11 points, while Jazmine Brown pulled down 11 boards to lead LTU.
Detroit head coach
Bernard Scott will look ahead to his first official game as head honcho when the Titans welcome the Bradley Braves to Calihan Hall on Friday, November 13th at 7:00 PM.
