CHICAGO (2/11/15) --
Four Titans scored in double figures and UDM outscored the Flames, 20-9, in the last eight minutes as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team pushed past UIC, 76-68, on the road on Wednesday night.

Freshman Darianne Seward and senior Ellisha Crosby led the way with 19 points apiece. Redshirt sophomore Rosanna Reynolds added 16 points and a season-high  four steals and freshman Nicole Urbanick tallied 12 points.

The win moved Detroit to 9-13 on the season and 4-5 in the Horizon League, while UIC dropped to 14-9, 4-6 in conference play.

In a game that featured 11 ties and 15 lead changes, Detroit was down 59-56 with 7:56 left when the red, white and blue went on a 12-2 run to take the lead for good. Crosby started that with a layup and then Seward fired in a 3-pointer to put the Titans in front, 61-59. The spurt continued with sophomore Haleigh Ristovski getting a layup and then Urbanick tickled the twine from behind the arc and the Titans matched their largest lead of the game, 66-59, with 4:44 left.

The Flames cut the lead to five a couple of times, the latest at 68-63, but Seward had two free throws and Crosby added a layup and a free throw for a 10-point advantage, 73-63, with 1:04 remaining.

Crosby also collected seven rebounds and four assists and Ristovski finished with a team-high eight boards, four points, two blocks and a steal. Seward dished out four helpers and freshman Brianne Cohen had six points, two caroms and a block off the bench.

The Titans shot a season-high 50.9 percent (27-of-53) with eight from downtown. UDM was 14-of-21 (66.7%) at the free throw line and had 15 assists on its' 27 field goals.

The first half was comprised of seven lead changes and six ties as the Titans and Flames went back and forth.

It was a 10-10 game at the 14:05 mark when the Titans scored seven-straight points. Crosby started it with a basket and then Reynolds followed with a three. After a UIC missed field goal, Crosby was able to find Cohen inside and she put it in for a 17-10 lead with 13:05 left.

The Flames scored two-straight baskets to trim the lead to three, 17-14, but back came Detroit as Urbanick nailed a triple for a 20-14 advantage with 11:13 remaining.

UIC countered with a 7-0 run to jump out in front, 21-20, and also led by one again, 23-22, when Detroit went back ahead, 24-23, on two free throws from Reynolds. A layup by Crosby would make it a 26-23 game with 1:51 left in the first. UDM also led by three at 28-25 and 30-27 with 32 ticks left, but the Flames hit a three as time was winding down to square things at 32-all at the break.

The second half saw both teams trade the lead a few more times, but UIC jumped ahead by five, 42-37, with 15:15 left. The Titans erased that with a Crosby triple and two free throws by Seward. UDM would take a 52-51 lead midway through the period, but the Flames rebounded to get that 59-56 score with under eight minutes in the contest.

Detroit will now return home to face the Youngstown State Penguins on Saturday, Feb. 14, in a 2:00 p.m., tip. The game will be part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day with special activities planned for girls ages 6-12 prior to the contest. Game Notes:

Detroit leads the all-time series, 25-22, and swept the season series... Detroit had lost four in a row at the UIC Pavilion with its last win in 2010… UIC outrebounded Detroit 39-33, but that was much improved from the 54-31 advantage it had at Calihan Hall back on Jan. 15… Detroit had four players in double figures for the eighth time this season… After starting the season 3-of-24 from three, Seward is 7-of-9 from behind the arc in the last two games… Crosby has now scored in double digits in 12-straight games… Cohen's six points was the most since netting six against Western Michigan in mid-December…
