DETROIT (3/29/2015) --
Six players scored multiple goals and the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 in the Atlantic Sun after a 21-9 rout over visiting Kennesaw State on Sunday afternoon at Titan Field.

Detroit improved to 3-0 at home this season and 5-5 overall with the victory. It was the Titans' second Atlantic Sun win at home this week.

UDM scored a season-high 15 goals in the opening frame as seven different players found the back of the net. Kennesaw State scored the first goal of the game just 1:59 into the contest, but Detroit followed with six straight in a 6:24 span.

Junior Michaela Schwartz started the offensive barrage at the 24:43 mark. Senior Annie Mendoza scored just 25 seconds later off a feed from senior Tessa Keuler, who was the next to score, just 36 seconds after that. Junior Kylie Birney, freshman Jessica Snyder and Schwartz scored the next three goals to give Detroit a 6-1 lead with 18:19 left in the first half.

After Kennesaw State tallied a marker to make it 6-2, the Titans scored five of the next six, all from different players, to take an 11-3 advantage with 10:33 left in the first stanza. Schwartz and Birney each posted hat tricks in the first half, while Keuler, Mendoza, Pritchard and Snyder all had two goals at the break. Keuler also had four assists in the first half for Detroit.

The Titans didn't let up in the second half, netting the first three goals after halftime. Freshman Emma Mucci scored at the 23:50 mark off a feed from Snyder and after Birney tallied her fourth goal of the game, sophomore Lauren Sharkey scored a man-up goal off an assist from freshman Jordyn Beam.

Sophomore Annelise Niermann then notched the final two goals of the game for the Titans on her first two goals of the season.

Keuler reached the six-point plateau for the third time this season. She finished the game with four assists, the fourth time this year she's had three or more assists in a game. She's had at least one point in every game this season.

Snyder finished with a hat trick and four points overall. All 15 of her points this season have come in the last six games and she has three hat tricks on the year. Birney reached four goals for the fourth time this year and has eight goals in conference play through two games.

Mendoza led the Titans with two caused turnovers and also had three draw controls and two ground balls. Birney finished the game with three draw controls and three ground balls, while junior defender Ally Shrader also had two GB's.

Senior goalkeeper Lexie McCormick earned her fifth win of the season turning away three shots in net.

For the game, Detroit had a 38-18 shot advantage and led in ground balls (17-11) and draw controls (18-14).

The Titans head to Florida for two more Atlantic Sun games next week, beginning with a contest at Jacksonville on Thursday, April 2.
