Rosanna Reynolds (Canton, Mich. / Divine Child) and
Nicole Urbanick (Grosse Ile, Mich. / Divine Child) each received honors on Monday following their play last week. Reynolds was named the Horizon League Player of the Week and Urbanick was selected the College Sports Madness HL Player of the Week after helping Detroit to a 3-0 record last week.
It's Reynolds second career Horizon League Player of the Week honor, while Urbanick has been named the College Sports Madness HL Player of the Week two times in the 2015-16 campaign.
Reynolds, a redshirt-junior guard, averaged 19.6 points, 5.6 assists and 5.6 rebounds, while shooting 50 percent from the field and 85 percent from the free throw line in Detroit's three wins.
She scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds in Detroit's 82-68 victory over Cleveland State, its first Horizon League win of the year. Reynolds followed it up with 15 points, a season-high eight assists and four steals in Detroit's 72-66 road triumph at Valparaiso. In the final contest of the week at UIC, she scored a season-high 26 points, hitting 8-of-15 shots. and sinking 8-of-10 from the free throw line in the Titans' second-straight road win.
Urbanick led Detroit with 67 points last week, averaging 22.3 points per contest. The team's leading scorer connected on 48.7 percent (19-of-39) of her field goal attempts, posting 24 points against the Vikings and a game-high 31 points in Detroit's road win over UIC. The sophomore sharpshooter made 14, 3-pointers during the week and shot 14-of-29 from beyond the arc during the three-game stretch. She also made 15-of-17 from the free throw line and had 14 rebounds last week.
The Divine Child High School graduates rank among the Horizon League leaders in several categories and are both in the top six in scoring. Urbanick is fourth in the Horizon League averaging 16.5 points per game, while Reynolds is sixth at 15.9 points per game. Urbanick leads the league in 3-pointers made per game (3.1), while Reynolds is third in the conference in assists (4.8 per game) and second in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2).
Detroit takes a three-game win streak into a Thursday night showdown with league unbeaten Wright State on Dick Vitale Court. The game against the Raiders is set to be streamed on ESPN3.com and broadcasted locally on WADL.
