DETROIT (1/14/2016) -- Junior guard Rosanna Reynolds (Canton, Mich. / Divine Child) reached the 1,000-point milestone in her University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball career on Thursday, but the Titans fell to a hot-shooting Wright State squad in an 89-71 loss at Calihan Hall.

The defeat ended a three-game conference win streak for Detroit (7-9, 3-2 Horizon League).

Reynolds, who entered the game just four points shy of the milestone, scored her first points of the game on a fast break lay-up early in the first quarter and reached 1,000 points exactly with 56 seconds left in the stanza on another lay-up from the block.

The reigning Horizon League Player of the Week finished the game with a team-high-tying 19 points for Detroit. She became the 20th player in Detroit women's basketball history to reach 1,000 points and first since Senee Shearer in 2013-14.

Sophomore forward Chea Taylor (Bellbrook, Ohio) had the best game of her young career, totaling career-highs of 16 points and nine rebounds. Classmate Brianne Cohen (Toronto, Ont. / York Memorial) posted the first double-double of her career, tallying 19 points and a career-high 11 rebounds off the bench.

Reynolds' bucket to get to 1,000 points pulled the Titans to within seven points, 22-15, but Wright State scored the final basket of the first quarter to take a nine-point advantage afte the first 10 minutes.

The Titans pulled to within six points, 28-22, after sophomore Nicole Urbanick (Grosse Ile, Mich. / Divine Child) converted on an old-fashioned 3-point play off an assist from Reynolds. Wright State followed with a triple by the Horizon League's leading scorer, Kim Demmings, and soon pushed the lead to double digits. A 3-pointer by Reynolds with 3:44 left in the first half pulled Detroit to eight points, 39-31, but WSU scored seven of the final nine points of the half to lead at the break, 46-33.

Taylor, who at one point in the game was 7-of-7 from the floor, continued her strong play in the second half, scoring four of the first eight Titan points in the third quarter. Cohen added eight points during the stanza, but Wright State continued its strong shooting to open a 19-point lead after three quarters, 74-55.

Taylor was 7-of-9 from the floor during her career night. Junior Haleigh Ristovski (Sterling Heights, Mich. / University Liggett) had eight points and six boards, while freshman Brittney Jackson (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Nazareth) added a career-best six rebounds and four assists off the bench for the Titans.
