GREEN BAY, Wis. (1/30/2016) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team dropped its first Horizon League road contest of season on Saturday afternoon, falling to Green Bay, 58-36, at the Kress Center. Detroit had been 3-0 in HL road games prior to the setback.
The Titans fall to 5-4 in the Horizon League, while Green Bay improves to 8-1 in conference play. Junior
Rosanna Reynolds led the Titans with 14 points, while sophomore
Nicole Urbanick followed with 10 points. Sophomore forward
Brianne Cohen scored six points in the second half for UDM.
Detroit held Green Bay to 58 points, which is the lowest number given up to a Division I opponent this season. The Titans previous low total to a Division I opponent this season was 63 in a win over IPFW on Dec. 9.
The Titans started strong out of the gate netting seven points in the first four minutes of the game. Reynolds began the scoring on a lay-up and Urbanick followed with her 100th career 3-pointer on her second triple attempt of the contest. Urbanick then had another jumper to knot the game, 7-7, with 5:56 remaining in the first quarter.
The Phoenix would score the remaining points in the frame and went up 24-9 midway through the second quarter. Detroit scored eight of the final 13 points of the first half, with Reynolds posting five of them and Urbanick converting on another shot from deep. At the break, the Titans trailed 29-17.
Cohen sank all three of her shots in the second half for six points, while Reynolds led the squad in the closing 20 minutes with seven points. Detroit again started strong out of the locker room as Reynolds hit a triple in the opening minute of the second half, which was then followed by consecutive buckets down low from Cohen. Green Bay continued its pressure on the offensive end, however, and led by 20 after three quarters, 46-26.
Freshman
Brittney Jackson tallied the first points of the fourth quarter on a triple from the wing and the Detroit defense held Green Bay to just 12 points in the final period. Neither team scored in the final three minutes of the contest.
Detroit was outrebounded in the game, 56-25, and shot 30.4 percent overall from the floor. The Titans shot better in the second half, however, making 38.1 percent of their shots. It was just the second time in nine games that Detroit has shot under 40 percent.
Junior
Haleigh Ristovski finished with a team-best seven rebounds and two blocks, while freshman
Lola Ristovski and
Haleigh Ristovski each dished out two assists.
Green Bay was led by Jessica Lindstrom, who had 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Titan News & Notes• Detroit has had three players reach 100 career 3-pointers this season as Reynolds and
Haleigh Ristovski did it earlier this season. Urbanick is the 14th player in Detroit's women's basketball history to reach that plateau.

• The Titans entered the game 22nd in the NCAA and the leaders in the Horizon League in fewest turnovers per game (13.5) and just about matched that on Saturday, turning the ball over 14 times against the Phoenix.

Detroit is in the middle of a seven out of nine stretch away from home.
