DETROIT (10/1/16) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team was edged, 1-0, on a goal in the last minute of double overtime to Milwaukee on a cloudy Saturday afternoon from Titan Field.
The Panthers, one of the favorites to win the Horizon League entering the season, had a tough time breaking through a physical Titan defense throughout the match. Detroit Mercy and Milwaukee entered Saturday's match in first- and third-place of the Horizon League standings, but it was the visitors who escaped with the victory.
Detroit Mercy saw its five-game unbeaten streak come to an end with the loss, its first since dropping a 2-0 decision on the road to Michigan State on Sept. 11.
Senior
Anna Mindling was held scoreless for the first time since the Titans' conference opener at Wright State, snapping a streak of four straight games with a goal for the forward.
After the squads traded a couple scoring chances in overtime, it was Milwaukee that broke through with the game-winner as Aubrey Krahn sent in a pass to Callie O'Donnell, who flicked the ball to Anna Smalley for the golden goal past a charging keeper.
Milwaukee finished the match with advantages of 18-8 in total shots, 7-2 in shots on goal and 15-2 in corner kicks. The Titan defense played strong, with many of the shots coming from outside the box that posed little threat to goal.

Molly Kane accounting for a pair of shots of her own.
Junior
Marina Manzo was tagged with the loss despite nearly earning a double overtime clean sheet with six saves.
