Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Titans Edge Green Bay, 2-1

GREEN BAY, Wis. (10/8/16) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team defeated Green Bay, 2-1, on the road Saturday night in Horizon League action from Aldo Santaga Stadium.
 
The Titans took control of the match early with two markers in the opening stanza. Junior Rachel DeLuca opened scoring in the 17th minute, beating the Phoenix keeper one-on-one to put Detroit Mercy ahead 1-0.
 
Senior captain Kristen Tobin propelled the Titans ahead 2-0 in the 29th minute after collecting a feed from Carly Fiorido and firing a shot between the legs of the Green Bay goalie for the score.
 
The Titans played strong defensively and kept Green Bay out of the scoring column until late in the match as KK Leskowicz put a rebound into net to cut Detroit Mercy's lead to 2-1 in the 85th minute.
 
Junior Marina Manzo made five saves to earn her sixth victory of the season in net, with DeLuca pacing the offense with three shots on net.
 
The Titans earned the road victory despite being outshot 17-12. Detroit Mercy and Green Bay were even in shots on goal with six apiece, while the Titans earned a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
 
With the win, Detroit Mercy gets back on track and improves to 3-1-1 in Horizon League play, while improving to 7-6-1 overall. The Titans increased their lead in the all-time series versus Green Bay to 22-2-3 and improved their road record to 4-4-1 in 2016.
 
The Titans are off for a week before returning to action on Saturday, Oct. 15 against Cleveland State. The match will be Senior Day for the Titans and is set to be broadcast live on ESPN3.
