Full Team Canada World Cup Roster
OTTAWA, Ont. (10/20/2016) -- Former University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse standout Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, Ont.) was named to Team Canada's Top 25 roster as the country prepares for the 2017 FIL Women's Lacrosse World Cup.
The latest round of cuts were made after Canadian Thanksgiving weekend at a training camp at the Team USA Fall Classic in Baltimore, Md., with the roster being trimmed from 41 to 25. The Canadian coaching staff will hold training camps in January and May before getting the roster down to 18 for next summer's World Cup in England.
Boissonneault, the all-time points leader in Titan history with 272, is a veteran with Team Canada, having helped lead the country to the silver medal during the 2013 World Cup. She played in all seven games at midfield, finishing the tournament with five goals, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. She's entering her second season as an assistant coach at James Madison University in 2016-17 after beginning her coaching career at Winthrop.
She was Detroit Mercy's President's Award winner during her senior season, received All-Conference accolades all four years and was named the National Lacrosse Conference Attacker of the Year during her freshman campaign in 2009. Boissonneault's name still appears in the NCAA Division I record books as she ranks 10th in career caused turnovers, 14th in career goals and 16th in career goals per game.
Boissonneault graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in English and Special Education.
