DETROIT (11/2/2016) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team has one more road trip in the 2016 season, visiting Belmont on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. (EST) first kick from Nashville, Tennessee, at E.S. Rose Park. The game is set to be broadcast through a live stream on BelmontBruins.com on the Bruin Sports Network.
The Titans and Belmont are playing in the last game of the regular season for the third-straight season. Detroit Mercy is unbeaten against the Bruins all-time with the Titans earning a 1-0 victory over Belmont in 2014 and securing a 2-0 win over the Bruins last year in Detroit.

Nicholas Deren '99Â enters his seventh full year as the leader of the men's soccer program. A former player for the University, Deren has spent the last 13 seasons with the Detroit Mercy men's soccer program as an assistant coach or head coach.
Scouting Belmont
The Bruins a 1-5-2 record in the Horizon League, the same mark as Detroit Mercy in league play. The Bruins have been shut out in nine of their past 10 matches, but defeated Oakland on the road, 2-0, on Oct. 22. In its past match, Belmont fell to UIC 2-0 in Chicago. At home in 2016, the Bruins are 1-4-2. Belmont has scored 11 goals and given up 34 during the season.
Jack Driscoll, Dennis Kluba and Nat Hubert all lead the team with two goals each. Freshman goalie Mertcan Akar leads the Horizon League and the NCAA in total saves with 108 and ranks second in the nation at 6.35 saves per game. He has a 76.4 save percentage and 1.93 goals against average.
All-Time Series
Detroit Mercy is 2-0 all-time against Belmont, winning in each of the past two seasons. The Titans have blanked the Bruins in both games, earning a 1-0 win in 2014 and a 2-0 victory last season in the regular-season finale in Detroit.

Flamme, Weaver Earn Horizon League Weekly Awards
Following a 2-0 week on the road, a pair of University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer players received accolades from the Horizon League with sophomore
Josh Flamme and freshman
Garret Weaver each earning weekly honors on Oct. 24. Flamme, a goalkeeper, was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week, while Weaver was selected as the Co-Offensive Player of the Week in the conference. It was the first career honor for both players and the first weekly honors for the Titans in the 2016 season.
Flamme earned the award after recording two shutouts on the road last week, his first two career clean sheets. Weaver, who has started the last nine matches on the back line for Detroit Mercy, scored the game-winning goal at NKU, heading home a free kick in the 70th minute to provide the only scoring of the game.
Bowman Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honor
Senior midfielder
Tommy Bowman was voted to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, as the organization recognized some of the top student-athletes across the country in men's soccer. Bowman became the second University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer student-athlete to earn the accolade in the past three seasons. The academic accolade was voted on by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members from across the country.
Bowman, who maintains a 3.88 GPA in business, leads the Titans with eight points in the 2016 season, while also leading the squad in assists (2), minutes played (1,399) and shots (27). He is tied for the team lead in goals (3), shots on goal (11) and is one of two players to start all 16 matches this year. He joins former University of Detroit Mercy teammate Matt Ybarra, who was a CoSIDA Academic All-District and All-America honoree in 2014, in receiving the honor.
