DETROIT (3/6/2016) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team's Horizon League Championship run ended Sunday afternoon after the Titans fell to No. 3 seed Wright State, 82-72, at Joe Louis Arena in downtown Detroit.
The sixth-seeded Titans (16-15) were led in scoring by
Paris Bass, who had a game-high 24 points off the bench. He added a game-high 13 rebounds for his 11th career double-double. Senior
Carlton Brundidge, who scored a career-high 29 points on Saturday, had 18 points on Sunday for the Titans, while sophomore
Jaleel Hogan added 11 points.
Detroit shot nearly the same as Wright State from the floor, making 45 percent of its shots, but failed to connect on a 3-pointer during the contest, going 0-for-11 from beyond the arc. The Raiders finished with a 46 percent shooting percentage during the contest. The Titans sank 20-of-23 free throws.
The Titans trailed at the break, 37-29, and the Raiders opened a 17-point lead just five minutes into the second half after J.T. Yoho sank a 3-pointer with 14:44 left. WSU had a 54-37 advantage after Yoho's triple. Detroit would get to within nine points four different times in the second half, but would get no closer.
Wright State made 11 of its final 12 free throws in the final 2:04 to help seal the game.
Senior
Anton Wilson, who reached the 1,000-point plateau on Saturday, had four points, while junior
Chris Jenkins totaled nine rebounds for Detroit.
JT Yoho led Wright State in scoring with 20 points.

Titans now trail the overall series 27-26… Every game in the Horizon League Tournament has been won by the lower seed… Detroit has lost the last three match-ups with Wright State in the Horizon League Tournament (2013, 2010, 2008)… This is the first time the Titans haven't made a 3-point basket since February 10, 2012, (0-13) against Milwaukee in a 58-57 win… The Titans were 39-of-44 at the free throw line in the two games at Joe Louis Arena… The Titans came into the game 14-3 when they outrebounded their counterpart… It was the seventh double-double of the season for Bass and the 11th of his career… Bass also posted his 14th career 20-point game and 13th this year… Hogan was in double figures for the 19th time this season… Wilson ended his career with 1,005 points, 319 rebounds, 183 assists and 95 steals in 126 career games… He also ranks fourth in single season 3-pointers (85) and career 3-pointers (205) and third in career three-point field goal percentage (41.1%)… Wilson ended his career third in the Titan record books with an 86.2 free throw percentage (83-of-93) in a season and is now third all-time Titan in free throw percentage at 86.2% (150-of-174)… Brundidge finished his career as a Titan with 652 points, 245 rebounds and 151 assists…Â
