DETROIT (5/4/16) – The University of Detroit Mercy softball team saw its season come to an end with a loss at the hands of the Youngstown State Penguins on Wednesday morning from Buysse Ballpark.
The visiting Penguins of YSU jumped ahead early with two runs in the first and padded their lead with three runs in the third and three more in the fifth. The Titan bats were held in check by YSU's Paige Geanangel, who limited Detroit to three hits in a five-inning shutout.

Katy Severson got her first collegiate start from the circle, but was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs to the league's top hitting team. Junior
Alexis Robison-Kohrs appeared in relief and allowed three unearned runs in 2.1 innings.
Freshman
Jordan Manno, junior
Laura Villagrana and junior
Alyssa James all went 1-for-2 from the plate in the defeat.
Detroit finishes the season with 17 wins, the most for the program since 2006.
