DETROIT (8/14/16) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team played its final tune-up prior to the start of the 2016 regular season on Sunday afternoon, falling to visiting Central Michigan University by a score of 2-0 at Titan Field.
The two sides went into the break tied 0-0 and a few quality chances on both sides of the pitch, but it was the Chippewas who would find pay dirt with a pair of goals in the second frame to take the 2-0 victory.

Marina Manzo got the start in goal for Detroit Mercy and posted a scoreless half with two saves. Sophomore
Sarah Hirschmann manned the net in the second and made four saves as the Chippewas mounted pressure on the defensive line.
CMU posted advantages in shots (15-8) and corner kicks (3-1), while Detroit Mercy held a 6-3 edge in saves.
The Titans open the 2016 regular season on Friday, Aug. 19 against Baylor for a 3 p.m. contest at Titan Field.
