DETROIT (10/21/2017) -- Senior
Tyler Moorman scored his ninth goal of the season on Saturday, but the University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 Horizon League match to visiting Milwaukee from Titan Field.
It was the first home loss of the season for Detroit Mercy, which had been off to its best start at Titan Field (5-0) since 2003. The Titans evened their Horizon League at 3-3-1 (10 points) following the result.
Moorman scored off a penalty kick in the 20th minute after a Milwaukee hand ball in the box. He put his shot to the right side of the net, beating the diving keeper just inside of the post. It was Moorman's third PK tally of the 2017 season. He extended his career-highs in both goals (9) and points (20) with the strike.
Detroit Mercy led 1-0 until late in the first half when Milwaukee tied the match up on a goal in the 39th minute. The Titans had a pair of chances just before the halftime break, but freshman
Kyle Bandyk's shot on goal was turned away with 10 seconds left on the clock.
The Panthers added another goal in the 57th minute after a series of shots. The Titans received a red card just two minutes later and played the rest of the match one man down. Milwaukee then capped off the scoring minutes later in the 65th minute with a goal in the box after a shot off the crossbar.
Moorman finished the game with a team-high five shots, three of them on net. Bandyk added two shots for the Titans, while sophomore
Aleks Vushaj also had a shot on goal. Twenty-three guys received playing time in the match.
