ANN ARBOR, Mich. (10/25/2017) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team played tough against No. 19-ranked Michigan on Wednesday night, but the Titans dropped a 1-0 match from U-M Soccer Complex. It was the final non-conference match of the 2017 season for the Titans.

Detroit Mercy fell to 6-6-3 overall with the defeat. The Titans have two Horizon League matches remaining on the schedule in the 2017 season, beginning with Saturday's Senior Day from Titan Field against Northern Kentucky. The match is set to start at 1 p.m. ET.

Junior goalkeeper Josh Flamme was strong in net all night for Detroit Mercy, turning away three shots in the first half as the Titans and Michigan were knotted 0-0 after the opening 45 minutes of play.

Senior midfielder Adam Clauss had a good chance in the opening minute of the match for the Titans, biking a shot just over the crossbar from just in front of the goal off a Justin Schueneman throw-in.

The Titans had another good scoring opportunity in the 47th minute with Aleks Vushaj beating the defender to a ball in a box that was turned away by a hard-charging Michigan goalkeeper.

Michigan scored its goal in the 73rd minute off a rebound in the box. Twenty-one (21) Titans saw time in the match. Clauss, Vushaj and freshman Kyle Bandyk all finished with shots for Detroit Mercy.

Detroit Mercy was playing its second ranked opponent of the season after drawing 2-2 at then-No. 16 Ohio State in late September. The Titans and Michigan were meeting for the 15th overall in men's soccer.
