INDIANAPOLIS (11/6/2017) -- Senior forward
Tyler Moorman (Caledonia, Mich. / East Kentwood) earned the final Horizon League Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor of the 2017 season Monday with the league office releasing the weekly honors.
It's the first career Horizon League Player of the Week honor for Moorman. It's the third weekly award for the Titans (7-7-3) in the 2017 season.
Moorman had a brace in the final regular season match of the season, scoring two goals in the span of eight minutes in a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory at Cleveland State on Friday. The goals were the 10th and 11th of the season for Moorman, who leads the Horizon League in goals and points after the regular season.
It was Moorman's third game-winning goal of the season. Moorman's 11 goals and 24 points are the most for a Titan since the 2012 season. He moved into 11th place in career goal scoring with his two goals Friday and has 21 career goals in his Detroit Mercy career.
Moorman joins teammates
Spiro Pliakos (Offensive POTW, Aug. 28) and
Robbie Beckwell (Defensive POTW, Sept. 11) in earning Horizon League weekly honors this season.
Detroit Mercy, as the No. 6 seed, plays at third-seeded Milwaukee tonight in a Horizon League Championship quarterfinal match. Game time is set for 8 p.m. ET and the game may be seen live on ESPN3.com and the WatchESPN Applications.
