KANSAS CITY, Mo. (12/13/17) -- Men's soccer senior forward
Tyler Moorman (Caledonia, Mich. / East Kentwood) earned yet another postseason accolade Wednesday, earning 2017 United Soccer Coaches Division I Scholar All-North/Central Region Team honors from the national organization.
Moorman, who was named All-Great Lakes Region by United Soccer Coaches on Dec. 1, was one of 12 men's soccer student-athletes named to the Scholar All-North/Central Region Team. He was one of 57 student-athletes across the country to earn Scholar All-Region honors.
He was one of two student-athletes from the Horizon League voted to the team. The honors are voted on by head coaches within their region. Moorman is the first Titan men's soccer student-athlete to earn Scholar All-Region honors since Matt Ybarra received the honor following the 2014 season.
Moorman, who had a 3.74 GPA as an undergraduate, is set to graduate with his Master of Business Administration degree in five years from the University next May. He has maintained a 3.92 GPA in graduate school.
Moorman recently capped off a standout senior season for the Titans, leading all Horizon League men's soccer players in goals (11) and points (24) during the regular season. He was named First Team All-Horizon League following the season. He finished with 25 points and 11 goals on the season, the most for a Titan men's player since the 2012 season. He ranked No. 34 in the country in goals per game (0.58) and 43rd in points per game (1.32).
The Caledonia, Mich. native was named the 2017 Horizon League Male Scholar-Athlete of the Fall. He was selected to the Horizon League Men's Soccer All-Academic Team as one of five Titans to earn the honor. Moorman was also the only Horizon League men's soccer student-athlete to be selected as one of 30 nominees for the Senior Class Award from across the nation.
The two-year co-captain and two-time All-Conference honoree wrapped up his career with 21 goals and four assists for 46 career points. He was a four-year starter for the Titans, who started 76 of the 79 career matches in which he played.
