SAN DIEGO, Calif. (3/5/17) – The University of Detroit Mercy softball team's tough road trip continued against Oregon State on Sunday morning at the San Diego Classic. The Beavers, who are receiving votes in the latest USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll, powered past the Titans for an 8-0 win.
After a scoreless first, the Beavers took advantage of Titan errors in the second and third frames to push five runs across the plate. OSU added runs in the fourth and fifth to earn the win.
Newcomer
Sydney Pollock recorded the Titans' lone hit in the top of the fourth. Pollock was doubled off on an
Alyssa James' line-out to end the inning.
Sophomore
Ashley Mauser took the loss after allowing six runs (one earned) on five hits in four innings of work. Mauser induced nine ground-outs in the defeat.
Nerissa Eason picked up the win for Oregon State after throwing five innings of shutout ball. Eason earned her team-high sixth win of the season for the Beavers.
The Titans will have an opportunity to bounce back tomorrow with a doubleheader at UC Riverside. Game one is scheduled for 3 p.m. EST.
