WASHINGTON, D.C. (4/21/2017) -- Twelve Titans scored goals Friday afternoon and the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team powered its way past host Howard, 20-5. The game was delayed due to lightning and didn't wrap up until more than three hours after opening draw.

Detroit Mercy scored 11 goals in the first 15 minutes of the contest to take an 11-1 lead and never looked back in cruising to the road triumph. The Titans had a commanding 30-4 shot advantage in the opening 30 minutes of the contest and led 13-2 at the halftime break.

The game was delayed midway through the second half with the Titans leading 16-4. Following the delay, Detroit Mercy scored the final four goals of the contest to close out the win, its second-straight in ASUN Conference play.

Six different players scored multiple goals in the contest led by sophomore Lexie Kinmond's four goals. Kinmond had a seven-point day for the Titans, tying her season and career-highs. Sophomore Emma Leszczak had a career-best four points on two goals and two assists, while junior Jordyn Beam, senior Julie Castner and sophomores Morgan Girardi and Ali Magyaros all added two goals for the Titans.

Junior defender Lauren Webley became the 10th player in school history with 100 career ground balls, collecting three during the contest for Detroit Mercy to give her 101 in her career. Fellow junior defender Emma DeYoung collected the first points in her career, scoring her first collegiate goal and posting an assist from the back line for the Titans, while adding two draw controls.

Junior defender Emma Mucci tied her single-game school record in draw controls, totaling 10 in the contest. She has two games of 10 draw controls this season and shares the school record with sophomore teammate Kaitlyn Wandelt.

Senior Kelsi Pritchard, juniors Brittany Fenney, Brianna Plester and Jessica Snyder, as well as freshman Maeve Grady all added markers for Detroit Mercy. Kinmond had a career-day on the field, adding six ground balls and four caused turnovers for the Titans. She scored on both free-position shots. Magyaros and Webley each had three ground balls, while freshman Tegan McManus tallied three caused turnovers for Detroit Mercy.

Snyder became the sixth Titan with double-digit goals this season. Pritchard reached the 30-goal plateau for the first time in her career, while Girardi established a new career-high in goals with 33. Kinmond also surpassed her assist total from last season with 24 helpers.

Detroit Mercy held a 43-11 shot advantage and tallied 21 ground balls in the game. Detroit Mercy also forced 18 Howard turnovers and grabbed 16 of the 27 draw controls in the game. Detroit Mercy went 10-of-12 on clear attempts and scored on 5-of-11 free-position shots.

The Titans had a season-low eight turnovers and posted season-bests with 13 caused turnovers and nine assists. It was the third-straight game of 20 or more ground balls for Detroit Mercy.

It was the ninth-straight victory over Howard in the series history. Detroit Mercy has played the Bison in all nine seasons since the Titans began women's lacrosse in 2009. The Titans have scored 20 or more goals in six of the nine games against Howard.
