POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (5/7/2017) -- Junior Alec Gilhooly and freshman Alex Akins were selected to the MAAC All-Tournament Team as the league's conference championship came to an end on Sunday.

The event ended with top-seeded Monmouth capturing the title.

Akins ended his superb defensive rookie season by playing outstanding defense against Monmouth, holding the Hawks' leading scorer Bryce Wasserman to just one point – an assist - on two shots with a turnover. Akins also picked up a ground ball.

Gilhooly tallied four goals in the semifinals game against Monmouth. The four goals were not only a career high for him and a career-tying in points, but were the most goals scored by a player in a game in the weekend postseason event.

The Titans season concluded in the semifinals, but Detroit Mercy is set to return 40 of its 47 players, including eight of its top nine point scorers and virtually every member of its long pole and close defensive unit.
