DETROIT (1/24/2018) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team is less than three weeks away from its season opener at nationally-ranked Notre Dame and the Titans have continued to put in the hard work.
"We have been working hard ever since the start of the fall," said head coach
Chris Kolon '09 (MBA). "I like what I have seen so far, but there are still a lot of areas that need improvement as we head into the season."
The Titans have hit practice hard since returning from the holiday break in January, enjoying the benefits of an indoor facility not to far away. Detroit Mercy has also already played in one scrimmage and has another set for this weekend.
"We did some good things in our first scrimmage and we took a lot of positives out of it, but there were a lot of things that we need to improve on. The scrimmages are great for evaluating where we are in terms of team competition and we will look to take another step in the right direction with the one this weekend," added coach Kolon.
The Titans return over 25 letter winners, including four of their top five scorers and most of their defense from a team that made the MAAC Championships for the sixth time in eight years as a member of the league.
Detroit Mercy will start its 10th year of varsity lacrosse on Feb. 11 when the red, white and blue head on the road to battle sixth-ranked Notre Dame.
