Brittney Jackson set a new career-high with 13 points and fellow guards Anja Marinkovic and
Nicole Urbanick continued their double-figure scoring streaks as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team fell 88-60 to Wright State at Calihan Hall on Saturday.
Jackson scored 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting, while Marinkovic tallied 19 points and Urbanick posted 15 points and team-bests with six rebounds and four assists for Detroit Mercy. The Titans shot 19-of-57 (33 percent) for the game, including 7-of-21 from the outside.
It was the third-straight games that Urbanick and Marinkovic were both in double figures for the Titans.
The Titans had a slow start in the contest and trailed after the opening quarter, 19-3. Detroit Mercy played much better in the second, scoring 20 points behind the trio of Urbanick, Marinkovic and Jackson.
Urbanick opened the second quarter with two-straight 3-pointers for the Titans, both on assists by junior
Lola Ristovski. Jackson scored all six of her first-half points in the final 3:19 of the second quarter, converting on two lay-ups before hitting a long jumper just inside the 3-point arc with 17 seconds left before the half. Marinkovic scored seven points in the second quarter as well.
Detroit Mercy trailed at the halftime break, 44-23. Urbanick led the team with nine points.
Freshman
Lexey Tobel and senior
Brianne Cohen opened the second half with back-to-back lay-ups. Marinkovic sank two 3-pointers midway through the third stanza and then assisted on another trey by Urbanick. It was Urbanick's third triple of the afternoon. Marinkovic added a lay-up later in the frame as Detroit Mercy scored 22 points in the third quarter.
The Titans missed a few 3-pointers early in the fourth until Tobel knocked down a triple with 3:20 left in the game. Jackson then added Detroit Mercy's seventh 3-pointer of the game with 1:22 left, tying her career-high. Jackson went past the mark, sinking a free throw with 15 seconds remaining.
Tobel and Cohen each added six points in the contest. Cohen also had two of the four Titan blocks in the contest.
Detroit Mercy shot the ball well from the free throw line during the contest, sinking 15-of-20 (75 percent) from the foul line. The Titans also had just three turnovers in the final three quarters of the game.

• Marinkovic and Urbanick both scored in double figures for the third-straight game.
• Jackson bested her previous career-high in points with 13. She has scored 12 four different times previously.
• Marinkovic (11 treys) and Urbanick (seven 3-pointers) have combined for 18 triples in the past three games.
• Urbanick is nearing second place in 3-pointers made (213). She is four shy of second place (217 by Michelle James).
• Cohen moved into a tie-for-11th place with Titan legend Cassandra Pack in career blocks (75) with her two rejections in the game.
• It was the 53rd career meeting between the two programs (Titans own a 28-25 series edge).
