ANN ARBOR, Mich. (10/10/2018) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team dropped a 5-0 match to No. 16-ranked University of Michigan on a rainy Wednesday night from U-M Soccer Stadium. It was the 15th career meeting between the two programs.

The Wolverines got on the scoreboard with two late goals in the first half -- in the 38th and 43rd minutes and then followed with three second-half goals. Michigan held the shot advantage in the contest, 19-1.

Titan freshman goalkeeper Devin Mendez made a pair of strong saves early in the game to help keep nationally-ranked Michigan off the scoreboard. Mendez's first save came on a tip on a shot towards the top of the goal and his second was on a sprawling punch after a free kick by Michigan from outside the box.

Detroit Mercy came out aggressively in the second half and took the first shot of the second with sophomore Daniel Iyok putting a shot that just went wide of the nearside post from the corner of the box. The Titans had two corner kicks on the evening.

The two teams were whistled for 30 fouls in the contest, 18 of them against the red, white and blue.

Three Titan goalkeepers saw time during the match with Mendez making two saves, freshman keeper Evan Mazurek starting the second half and junior GK Sami Nouri playing the final 15 minutes in goal.
