The Titans will welcome a brand new coaching staff as well as 13 new players in 2018-19. The fourth of the series "Getting To Know" features junior
Harrison Curry, who was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and most recently attended Louisiana Tech.
How Did You Find Your Way To Detroit Mercy?
"It was late in the recruiting period and coach
Tracy Dildy called me and said they were interested and I said, 'Sure, I want to come,". I didn't want to play in Division II and I was waiting to see what offers I would get and Detroit Mercy called me. I'm blessed to be here."
What's It Like To Be Back In Michigan?
"It's different. I haven't been here since I was 17 and a junior in high school. It's different being here as an adult now, but I like it. Â I've got to get reacclimated to the weather, but I love Detroit and I love being here. It is the biggest city in Michigan, a lot to do, and a lot of resources. The school is great and everyone's nice. I just love the whole situation here."
What Did You Know About Detroit Mercy?
"I knew the Titans when they were good, when Ray McCallum was playing. I was familiar with that."
Did You Know Coach Davis Before Getting Here?
"I knew of him and his success everywhere, especially at Texas Southern. I've seen him on twitter and online about their games."
What's It Been Like Getting To Know Coach Davis?
"I love his coaching. I love how he's hard. He demands a lot and has a high standard to do things, which I love because I hold myself to a high standard in my everyday life and on the basketball court. He does not hold me to a lesser standard — he wants more from everyone. He demands more and that's how it should be."
What Do You Really Like A Lot About Basketball?
"I love going out there and looking like a great player on the court. I love having success. What strives me, what keeps me playing, is after a good game, that feeling that you get being a stand-out player on the court. That feeling of being successful in a basketball game is a feeling you can't get anywhere else in life. You can't, and that's what keeps me grinding, day-in and day-out with basketball, to get that feeling."
There's A Lot New Guys In This Place Right Now, Including Yourself. What's The Transition Been Like?
"The transition has been easy because we're all in here together. It's a brotherhood. We're all new and the players that are here returning, they're cool too. Everybody meshes, we all hang out together. It's just a good brotherhood and we all love each other. It's been really easy and we all push each other and hold each other accountable."
What's Your Biggest Strength?
"I am good at scoring, I'm vocal, I can shoot well, I'm strong, physical, and just a matchup problem. That's my strength, that's what I bring. And I compete — I love competing, I want to be the best. I don't want any player to outdo me on the basketball court."
What's Your Major and What Do You Hope To Do With It?
"My major's finance. In life, I plan on owning businesses, being an investor, just having my money into multiple things and me, just getting into real estate, just being very smart about finances. I plan on being a multi-millionaire."
