DETROIT (11/21/2018) -- University of Detroit Mercy head men's basketball coach
Mike Davis went back to some familiar territory to start off his 2018-19 recruiting class as
Jamail Pink (Houston, Tex./Clear Lake) signed a National Letter of Intent with the Titans.
Â
"Jamail is a good point guard who is smart and a hard worker," said head coach
Mike Davis. "He has a great work ethic and we are excited to have him here at Detroit Mercy."
Pink is the first signee in this year's class and hails from Houston, where coach Davis spent the previous six seasons building a powerhouse at Texas Southern.Â
Â
The 6-1, 170-pound point guard averaged 10.2 points, 4.3 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals as a junior, helping his team post a 31-6 record and was among the top 10 in the state.
Â
Just this past summer, he played AAU on Team Harden and tallied 10.1 points and 4.0 assists per game.
Â
Pink was a 2-star recruit according to Verbal Commits and was ranked No. 33 in the state by MaxPreps.Â
Â
The Titans just won the Gotprint.Com Legends Classic Subregional, presented by Old Trapper, this week with victories over Loyola Maryland and Bowling Green and will be back in action on Saturday as they make the short trip to Ypsilanti to face Eastern Michigan. Â
