INDIANAPOLIS (11/26/2018) -- It was a perfect week for the Titans on the court and the week is starting off with a pair of awards to showcase that effort as University of Detroit Mercy guard
Antoine Davis was named both the Horizon League Freshman and Player of the Week on Monday.
It is the second time this season he has garnered a conference award as he was selected the Freshman of the Week on Nov. 12. He is also the second player (Oakland's Isaiah Brock on Feb. 6, 2017) to be named both player and freshman of the week since the Horizon League began naming a weekly newcomer in the 2012-13 season.
Davis helped Detroit Mercy to a 3-0 week, a Legends Classic Subregional title and a road win at in-state rival Eastern Michigan – who was picked to win the MAC East.Â
He averaged 32.7 points, 6.0 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals, while shooting 50.8 percent from the field (33-65), 63.2 percent from behind the arc (24-38) and 88.9 percent at the free throw line (8-9). He posted three 20-plus point outings with a freshman record 42 points against Loyola Maryland – sixth most in school history - 32 points with six assists versus Bowling Green and a team-best 24 points with a team-high seven rebounds and seven assists at EMU.Â
Davis is currently second in the nation in scoring at 30.0 points per game. He also leads the country with 39, 3-pointers on the season, while his 63 total field goals is tied for the most in Division I.Â
Detroit Mercy will be back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 28, when the red, white and blue host Kent State in a 7 p.m. game at Calihan Hall.Â
