DETROIT (12/21/2018) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team dropped a 77-60 contest at Toledo in its non-conference finale on Friday night from Savage Arena. Freshman Sophia DiMilia sank all nine free throw attempts and set career-highs in her first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while senior guard Brittney Jackson added 14 points.

Four Titans overall were in double figures as sophomore Lexey Tobel added 11 points and junior Zoey Oatis tallied 10 points. Junior Ashley Miller, a Toledo native, had nine first-half points for Detroit Mercy. The Titans went down by 14 points early, but like so many times this season, continued to fight back and trailed by six points after an Oatis 3-pointer to open the third quarter.

Toledo again went up by double digits, but Detroit Mercy again cut the deficit to nine, 66-57, after a pair of Paige Bellman free throws with 5:16 left in the fourth quarter. The Rockets then went on a run to seal the victory. The Titans sank eight free throws in the final quarter and went 23-for-34 from the free throw line in the contest.

DiMilia's 14 points was her second-career double figure scoring contest after her 11 points at Michigan earlier this season. Her nine free-throw makes (all in the first half) without a miss was the most by a Titan since Tobel sank all 11 free throws last season against Eastern Michigan. She became the fourth Titan in secure 10 or more rebounds this season after Oatis, Bellman and Miller. Oatis scored all 10 of her points in the third quarter, while Jackson sank 5-of-6 free throws in the fourth quarter.

The Titans sank three 3-pointers in the third quarter, scoring 20 points in the third stanza overall.

Fifty-one (51) fouls were called in the contest, 25 of them against the Titans. Detroit Mercy had four blocks and four steals in the contest, while shooting 31.4 percent in the contest (16-for-51). Jackson had a team-best three assists, while Miller and Tobel each added four caroms.

Detroit Mercy opens Horizon League play next Friday, hosting Youngstown State at 5 p.m. from Calihan Hall. It's the women's basketball alumni game with all former Titans welcome back to Calihan Hall for a pregame alumni game and reception as well as halftime recognition.
