DETROIT (3/17/2018) -- Midfielder
Kaitlyn Wandelt continued her impressive hot streak, tying her career-high with six goals and junior attacker Lexie Kinmond added six points but the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team fell 19-15 to visiting Duquesne from Titan Field on Saturday.
The Titans (3-4) were playing their second game in three days at home, kicking off a stretch of six of seven that are played in Detroit. The Titans rallied in the second half, scoring four-straight goals in the final eight minutes of the game, but couldn't complete the comeback against the Dukes.
Wandelt, who tallied seven points for the second-straight game, finished with six goals and one assist, scoring on six of her seven shots during the game. She scored a hat trick in each half for Detroit Mercy. Kinmond had six points on three goals and three assists, while senior attacker
Jordyn Beam added three goals for the Titans.
Detroit Mercy held 2-1 and 3-2 leads in the first 10 minutes of the contest with Wandelt scoring two of the three goals early. It was back and forth for much of the first half with junior
Morgan Girardi and Beam scoring back-to-back in a span of 32 seconds to knot the game up, 6-6, with 11:24 left in the opening half.
Duquesne, however, went on a run to take a 13-8 lead at the halftime break. Beam scored the first goal of the second half but the Dukes went ahead 16-9 midway through the second half. Beam completed the hat trick to jump start a 6-2 Titan run late in the contest.
Kinmond, senior
Jessica Snyder and a pair of Wandelt goals completed a 4-0 stretch in that run as Detroit Mercy pulled to within three, 18-15, with 1:42 left. The Dukes scored the final goal of the game, however, as the Titans couldn't pull off the late charge.
Kinmond scored on both free-position changes for the Titans. Senior defender
Lauren Webley had team-bests with five ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Wandelt tallied a team-high five draw controls. Junior goalkeeper
Allison McDonough tallied 12 saves and had five ground balls. The game was the fourth-straight for McDonough in double-digit saves.
Duquesne held advantages in draw controls (21-14) and total shots (38-25). Detroit Mercy had a great shooting percentage, scoring on 15 of 21 shots on goal. The Titans had the lead in saves (12-6) and had less turnovers than Duquesne (18-21).
Freshman
Meredith Moore added one goal and three ground balls, while Girardi had three draw controls for Detroit Mercy. Beam and freshman
Kamryn Corraro both had two draw controls.

Detroit Mercy returns to the field next Sunday, playing in Ann Arbor against the University of Michigan for a 1 p.m. contest. It's part of a stretch during the season where the Titans play seven-straight games inside the state of Michigan.
